Life goes on 👣: A tribute to my dearest brother Bitu

Image
Life goes on 👣 This was his status message on social media – simple, yet profound. But none of us ever imagined that his own life would come to a sudden and heartbreaking halt so soon. My beloved younger brother, Bitu – Niroj Ranjan Panda – left us on the night of 16th June 2025 , around 10 PM , when he was alone at home. The autopsy revealed he had suffered a massive cardiac arrest – a Myocardial Infarction (MCI) – leading to left ventricular rupture . The thought that he endured such terrible pain in solitude, with no one around to call for help, leaves me shattered. I keep going back to his pictures, and every time, tears swell in my eyes. He was just 1 year, 8 months, and 15 days younger than me – my closest companion through childhood and youth. A silent fighter, he endured more stress and suffering than most could bear. Life bruised him, shook him, wore him down. Yet he met it all with a broad, hopeful smile. Looking back, I feel a crushing weight of guilt. I k...

GREY IS THE NEW GREEN…

Image
If someone says grey is green, we would assume the person to be either colour blind or insane. Grey and green are of course different colours. They signify different things which are poles apart. Grey means weak, old-age and ambiguity. In contrast green depicts strength, youthfulness and decisiveness. Green is now trending. It finds its place as a prefix in every other thing in the market. At the same time, grey is also a very common colour in nature, be it colour of animals, birds, and fishes. Being a neutral shade, it helps them blend with their surroundings and ensures their survival. It also compliments and gels well with almost any other colour. Despite its inherent benefits, we usually find awkward if someone dons grey hair. People become inquisitive about your biological age and why on earth you have left that damn grey thing undyed. This blog is an attempt to analyse the colour grey, specifically greying of our hair and how greying hair brings a new meaning to our lives. Shad...

Lessons on investment & money skills

Image
Of late my daughter has been very curious about my current interest in writing blogs. She has always been the first one to read the draft version of all my previous three blogs. After the third blog “Finding the Yogi in me,” I was wondering what I would write next. And there my sweetheart promptly suggested “Papa, you should write next something on investment.” This has more or less to do with the fact that she has seen me following some financial influencers in YouTube and tracking the business news, and buying equities of some popular companies since the mid-2022. Though I quickly agreed to her suggestion, I later found myself scratching my head on the content of the blog. I thought over it for a few days and finally began gathering some ideas and based on my personal experiences and learning. A famous American investor Peter Lynch has been quoted as saying:  Everyone has the brainpower to follow the stock market. If you made it through 5th grade math, you can do it. It sounds ea...

Juno's Blog #1: Summer 23

Image
Visit to Dhauli Stupa A summer vacation is a long holiday which lasts for about 2 months. This holiday is given by the school because there is too much heat outside. This year summer vacation in the schools in Odisha started too early. I was very happy to hear this news. One morning, while playing basketball in my school, I saw a poster that said that summer camp would start from May 1st. I was confused whether to attend it or not because my father had the idea of sending me to swimming classes. I would have chosen summer camp easily, but I wasn't sure whether my friends would be there or not. Then, my parents checked the number of students attending swimming classes, but it was too crowded. So we decided that I would rather go to the summer camp. Having a great time with friends RMNH, Bhubaneswar On the first day of summer camp, I was a little nervous, but soon found out that my friends were also there. I got to learn yoga, aerobics and keyboard. We also went to the Hotel New Marr...

Finding the Yogi in me

Image
My Yoga partner I want to disclaim right at the beginning of the blog that I am not a Yogi. I am rather an average human being having already lived half of his life with a 9 to 5 job, and a stable source of monthly income to meet my ends. However, lately I have been able to accept the daily struggles and move on in my life. Practice of Yogasanas and Pranayamas on regular basis since 2016 has definitely helped me in achieving a level of balance and inner peace that is very tough to find in our chaotic existence. When we think of a yogi, the image of an ascetic person living a life of seclusion and renouncement comes to our mind. I don’t reject this idea. But, yoga to me is beyond this notion of asceticism. It is rather a way of living in this world shouldering all the responsibility that comes with our social existence. With yoga, we become more aware of our actions and their consequences. This is the story of finding the Yogi in me . The yogi inside me is still evolving and getting bet...

MY TRYST WITH MOTORCYCLING

Image
Motorcycling can be a hobby… It had never happened to me until recently. I have had a deep fascination for machines, especially motorcycles from a very young age. As we all know a motorcycle is a motorized cycle that is either powered by an ICE (internal combustion engine) or electric motor. It helps the rider to cover the distance with less effort. It is a tool to slice through the city traffic. Here I would stick only to the ICE powered motorcycles. These machines burn fuel once the engine is fired up. The mechanical sensation from the ICE engine, the exhaust note, the pull of the levers, and the wind blast as one rides, all come together and bring to the rider a sense of freedom and thrill. That's why motorcycling is meditative for the rider. Initial attraction: My fancy for motorcycles goes back to the time when my father got his first ride, a pre-owned Kinetic Luna. Thereafter he owned a K-Bajaj Boxer, then a Bajaj Wind 125, and finally his current ride a TVS Wego i...
